Align the rings just right to let the beam travel smoothly through all the rings. When aligned perfectly, a beautiful pattern appears on the receiver’s screen—a visual representation of the outside world, like the current weather, sunrise, sunset, or moon phase. It’s a fun, interactive way to bond with fellow passengers while discovering the wonders of the world, all while navigating the subway together. The ultimate goal? Perfect alignment, perfect patterns, and maybe, just maybe, a new friendship.<br />

Their idea was to feature all their main characters in a cozy, festive illustration, with their new office as the backdrop.<br /><br />Here’s the whimsical scene I imagined🪄：<br /><br />It’s Christmas Eve, and Henry, exhausted after a long day, is about to head home. Just as he’s about to leave, a strange noise from the fish tank catches his attention. He switches on the light to uncover a magical, joyous Christmas party unfolding inside!🧚🏻♀️<br /><br />Mermaid Molly is admiring herself in a hand-held shell mirror.🧜<br />
<br />Manju and Lila are deep in thought, busy with their tasks on the bot.🛶<br />
<br />Jing, already on vacation mode, is lounging and sipping on juice.🧃<br />
<br />Their playful mascot dolphin makes a cheeky appearance now and then, adding to the fun.🐬<br />
<br />Hovering above it all is Tiny Angel Peter, spreading holiday cheer.👼<br /><br />First came the illustration, then the animation. I created the visuals using Adobe Illustrator and Toon Boom Harmony. Inspired by these values, I designed a keychain that captures the essence of the dolphin’s spirited energy and AHA Studio’s unique ethos. The design balances elegance and vibrancy, reflecting their philosophy of harmony and innovation.✨<br /><br />

Over the course of a month, I taught myself Unity, with some coding help from ChatGPT, and developed my first game for my Interactive Design class. This game was designed for Cinekid, a media festival for kids in Amsterdam, where the theme of the year was the "Age of Extraordinary" as opposed to the "Age of Averageness." My goal was to create an experience that inspires kids to celebrate their uniqueness and consider what makes them extraordinary.<br />
<br />
The game is simple yet meaningful, modeled after the Tamagotchi concept. Players nurture one of four unique characters: Blue Dog, Pinky Rabbit, Colorful Caterpillar, and Caterpillar. Each character embodies a positive trait, allowing players to connect with qualities they value. As players care for their character—feeding, interacting, and helping them grow—they can explore self-discovery in a fun, engaging way. At the end, players can take a selfie with their chosen character and print it out as a keepsake.<br />
<br />
With limited time, I focused on fundamental animations and interactions, striving to make the game visually engaging and easy to play. While the design is simple, I’m proud to have brought the project to life by designing the characters, animating them, and even adding my own voice acting. This project not only reflects my growth and determination but also serves as a celebration of individual creativity and self-expression.</span></div>

<br /><span class="gallerybody">In June, I was commissioned by the Chinese indie label, Delivery Music (递梨音乐), to design the album cover for their upcoming release, Pear Club. They asked me to create a fun and quirky scene featuring a pear-shaped spaceship and pear people celebrating—something playful and imaginative. I envisioned a joyful gathering of little pear characters welcoming their leader with a lively party atmosphere.<br />
<br />The album is set to release in December, and alongside the cover, I also produced a 3D animation. For the animation's soundtrack, I chose “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire, inspired by the emotional energy I felt while watching Robot Dreams, a movie that recently left an impression on me.</span>

Love is home, love is where you are, love is me, love is you, love is me & you.<br />This is an assignment for my second-year writing class at KABK , we need to observe an object for hours and write down our feelings and observations about it. I chose my relationship with my girlfriend. I wrote my observations and my feelings down then I asked Chat GPT to extract the words and generate the lyrics for a love song. Then I asked it to generate the chords randomly. I spent 2 hours composing, singing, and playing with ukulele and recorded it. Later I made the animation with procreate dreams. <br />

This is the story of my future broadcast station, set in the year 2070. Inspired by <i>Midnight Gospel</i>, which takes place in a dimensional virtual space where the protagonist uses a simulator to generate his character and travel to different universes for his spacecast episodes, my story unfolds in a post-apocalyptic Earth devastated by a nuclear bomb. In this bleak future, only a few survivors have escaped into space.<br />
<br />
Amidst the chaos, a sinister scientist named Ghost creates a deadly virus called "New Corona," threatening to wipe out more lives. The universe’s broadcast station urgently airs this news, seeking to warn the population. Interviews with residents from different space regions aim to uncover clues about Ghost's whereabouts.<br />
<br />
This project is an assignment for my second-year <i>Emerging Reality</i> class at KABK in 2023, and it’s my first attempt at 3D animation. I pushed myself to learn 3D animation in a very short amount of time, incorporating the designs and characters from my 2D animations. I did the modeling and rigging, but I ran into some issues. I wanted to use Blender’s <i>Faceit</i> add-on for facial animation, but it had bugs, and I need more time to resolve them. I also tried <i>Rigify</i> for facial rigging, but after generating the rig, it disappeared. 😓<br />
<br />
I definitely need more practice with character rigging! Despite the lack of lip-syncing in the 3D version, the project is finally complete. 🥹<br />

The narrative is uniquely tied together by Ping Pong, with Ramenboy, a Ping Pong-playing robot, as the central figure. He is tirelessly practicing for an upcoming tournament, determined to prove his skills.<br />Ghost City itself is an immense machine, resembling Noah’s Ark, drifting around Volcano Ghost. Its design mirrors Ramenboy, as the city is modeled after his form, serving as a living reflection of the robot. Perhaps the only one of its kind on Monster Planet, the city exists within a Ping Pong ball—an accidental creation sent soaring into the sky by two rabbits during a fateful Ping Pong game.<br />This surreal and imaginative city, filled with strange inhabitants and a fantastical landscape, revolves around Ping Pong as the driving force behind its story. Even Ghost Studio, owned by Ghost Qiao, the visionary behind Ghost City, plays a pivotal role. This creative space is where she brings her ideas to life. The walls are adorned with portraits of her friends, capturing moments that inspire her work. A fish tank in the corner holds a miniature prototype of Ghost City itself, symbolizing both her visionary design and the city she built.<br />This VR animation, along with its derivatives such as AR cards and 3D-printed models, was showcased at the 2019 China International Import Expo (CIIE). The event was organized by the Singaporean digital company Meshminds and sponsored by Facebook (Meta).</span></div></div>

The music, composed by Stefan Raab, is a 2004 novelty hit featuring the comedic characters Spucky, Kork, and Schrotty, blending funky pop with humorous, sci-fi-inspired lyrics. It parodies a quirky space journey and became popular thanks to Raab's TV show TV Total, known for its absurd humor and catchy beat. The music video added to the fun with animated aliens and surreal visuals, giving it widespread appeal.<br />
<br />
In our project, I crafted a playful story about three passengers and their taxi driver, who abandon them after a chaotic fight on a lonely planet. My friend choreographed the dance sequences, while I served as the animator and director, with all of us acting and performing together. It was an incredibly fun experience—I love doing crazy, funny things like this, just to entertain myself!</span></div>

<span class="gallerybody">In 2021, I was commissioned by the emerging Chinese fashion brand Delicates to collaborate on a T-shirt design. Known for their high-quality white T-shirts, Delicates invited four China-based artists to create illustrations centered around a sports theme. My design focused on Ping Pong.<br />
<br />
I crafted a playful story featuring four quirky scientists conducting research in an isolated desert, far from civilization. Their only source of entertainment is playing Ping Pong together. One day, as they are immersed in their game, a UFO suddenly appears, showering the scene with vibrant, colorful Ping Pong balls, filling them with joy.<br />
<br />
In addition to the illustration, I also animated the scene and composed the background music to bring the story to life.</span></div>

<span class="gallerybody">In 2021, I created the package design (animation & illustration) for my friend's new pet medical brand, Dr. Xu (小许医生). I was incredibly honored that he entrusted me with this project, especially since such a unique, unconventional style is rarely seen in China's medical industry.<br />
<br />
I designed two characters: Space Dog and Space Cat, who act as cosmic protectors, safeguarding the universe by battling viruses—like space police for pets' health. After the design was complete, they sent me a sample of the product, and I even captured a photo of my cat posing with it.</span></div>

For an extended period, we found ourselves confined to a small space, with limited options for activities.<br />

During this time, Standard Nerds Club, a young Chinese Ping Pong club, aimed to bring the joy of Ping Pong back to the younger generation in a fun, creative, and artistic way. Together, we collaborated on a project titled "How to Play Ping Pong Differently at Home". Our goal was simple: to encourage people to play Ping Pong wherever they are and whenever they can. Especially during such challenging times, engaging in physical activity, even if it's just a little, can help alleviate anxiety and fear.

The idea for this video came to me during a locking dance class, where we were practicing a move called the "Oldman." Suddenly, I thought: what about other characters like a policeman, fisherman, or milkman? What if I could do the same basic dance movement, but in character, like a real old man?<br />
<br />
That spark of inspiration led me to design 33 different characters, each with unique outfits—most of which were mine, and some borrowed from my parents. The video features the "Running Man" dance, a classic hip-hop move, performed by each of these characters.<br />
<br />
I used music from the YouTube Audio Library to accompany the video. Through this project, I wanted to show how people from all walks of life could find joy in dancing, no matter their profession or daily routine.</span></div>

In Electric Dream, I introduce Mr. Intestine, a voyeuristic observer acting as a “God’s view” figure, quietly watching someone else’s life unfold. But as you watch the animation, who’s really in control? Is it Mr. Intestine—or is it you?<br />In this bizarre world, Mr. Intestine spies on a monster couple, deeply in love and video chatting with each other during a bath. Nearby, a toilet baby works endlessly as a cleaner, sinking into the toilet, drinking the water, and puking it out in a perpetual cycle. A drum beats by itself, without any player. Beyond the room lies a desert landscape, where desert worms frolic and observe from their own hidden underworld, disappearing through a glass portal. Meanwhile, two fly brothers buzz about, comically dumb—slapping each other and eating filth. One tries to act smarter than the other, though both are equally clueless.<br />Despite everything appearing completely disconnected, this strange world thrives in harmony. But is it just a dream? Or could this be reality itself?<br />I also created the music using a music app:p</span>

<span class="gallery-caption">Friends from Another Planet👽</span><br /><span class="gallerybody">My friends always say, "Ghost, you're crazy!" And I reply, "No, you're the crazy ones!" I truly have the most lovable and wildly fun group of friends—they're like aliens to me, and I wouldn't have it any other way. This project is a personal tribute to them, where I create portrait illustrations imagining them as quirky, otherworldly beings.<br />
<br />
Back in 2020, during the height of the COVID pandemic, I was approached by Pull&Bear, a global Spanish fashion brand, for a collaboration. The idea was to showcase how people remain connected around the world, despite the distance. I projected Friends from Another Planet onto buildings in the city where I was living, Suzhou, Jiangsu, sharing this fun and uplifting message with the community.</span></div><br />

</span><br /><span class="gallerybody">was inspired by a poem “Nostalgia” attributed to the enigmatic Denture, a supposed Malaysian poet whose existence remains unconfirmed. The poem tells the absurd story of a young boy who, while traveling to Africa with his family, witnesses each family member being devoured by wild beasts. Now, whenever he misses them, he visits the zoo. The tale is as outlandish as the legend surrounding Denture. Yet, beneath its ridiculousness lies a surprising depth of philosophy. Though the dark humor might mislead some readers, I find it both amusing and thought-provoking. To playfully contrast the poem’s tone, I chose a simple, whimsical design with vibrant colors.</span><h1 class="caption2"><br />

Shit Egg was my first cat, a stray I found on campus and brought home. From that day on, he became my loyal companion. He was a playful and energetic cat, always making me laugh. Unlike most short-haired orange cats, he had a thick, long coat—almost like a little lion.<br />
<br />
When I left for the U.S. to study, I entrusted my parents with his care. Not long after, I received heartbreaking news—Shit Egg had gone missing. I was devastated; he was like my baby. To cope with the loss, I created an animation in his memory, even composing the song that accompanies it.</span></div><br />

Lonely Me</span><br /><span class="gallerybody">It was the cold winter of 2024. I was young and struggling with typical youthful problems—depression and emotional turmoil. At that time, I was working on my first college thesis, alone at home. To cope with my sadness, I began overeating, which marked the start of my unhealthy relationship with food.<br />
<br />
As I grew older, I found myself feeling more and more out of place in social circles. Maybe I was too selective with friends, or maybe I was just misunderstood, but loneliness became a constant companion. To express those feelings, I began creating a series of GIFs, each capturing the solitude I felt inside. It was like I was observing myself, always playing alone, disconnected.<br />
<br />
Eventually, I combined these GIFs into what became the Lonely Me animation. To complete the piece, I chose the song "WE" by Chinese musician Ke Ding as the background music, which perfectly resonated with the mood of the animation.</span></div>
